Introduction
Owned and operated by Specialty Restaurants (P) Ltd, ‘Mainland China’ is a well respected name when it comes to Chinese cuisine. Currently it has got presence in all metropolises along with Pune, Bangalore & Hyderabad.

Ambience
The restaurant is located in quite a popular place. It has 3 multiplexes in the same area and a host of other restaurants. However, it is situated at such a location, that you might drive past it without even realizing it.

The interiors are pleasant and when we entered, being an early afternoon, there were hardly any people. The area is very spacious and the seating layout is done in various configurations, more area being reserved for families. The high ceiling of the restaurant is the reason for the place feeling so spacious.

Food
I decided to go in for the buffet lunch. The items were highly tempting and so was the price. We were served Chinese tea first. Don’t miss this simple, herbal drink. Have it before as well as after the food.

The buffet consisted of the following items (try to prevent your mouth from watering):
Soups [Hot n Sour Vegetable, Lemon Coriander Chicken]
Starters [Sauté Onion Wotib, Potato Taipei, Chicken Wontons, Chicken Siumai]
Main Course [Exotic Vegetable Chilli Bean Sauce, Stir fried Chinese Greens, Potato Corn Tsing Hoi Sauce, Chicken Hot Garlic Sauce with bone, Chicken Black Bean Sauce, Roast Lamb Sichuan Chilli Sauce]
Rice & Noodles [Burnt Garlic Vegetable Rice, Vegetable Hakka Noodles, Chicken Hakka Noodles, Chicken Fried Rice]
Desert [Daarsaan, Almond Curd Dew, Vanilla Ice Cream]

I tried all the Non-veg items and a few veg ones. I shall start with the soup. Lemon Coriander Chicken; a simple, thick soup with lots of coriander, a hint of lemon and soft shredded chicken. A good way to begin a meal.
I had all the starters, the best being the Chicken Wontons. They were just perfectly fried and had mildly spiced chicken stuffing. Next were the Chicken Siumai. These were essentially non-spicy, baked chicken dumplings. The sauté onion wotibs were similar, the only difference being the stuffing of onion.

In the main course, I had the Potato Corn Tsing Hoi Sauce in addition to all the non-veg items. The potato corn dish was quite good with a tangy taste to it. It tasted well with the rice. Out of the remaining, I found the lamb to be the best. It was the most succulent of the lot. Properly shredded and though a bit spicy, it tasted best with the chicken and egg fried rice. Both the chicken dishes were well cooked too, the better of them being the one in garlic sauce. However, that was with bone and I did not enjoy that. I prefer main course items being boneless. They ensure a hassle free eating.

The rice was excellent and the quality was evident from the taste. I do not prefer noodles, but I had a single helping here. Finally, the deserts; one cannot miss this. Daarsaan are basically honey fried noodles. Though a bit sticky in the mouth, they tasted superb with the vanilla ice cream. The almond curd dew was a light and not-so-sweet dish. I could not find any taste of almond though.

Service
I could not evaluate or check this aspect in totality as I went for the buffet lunch. However, the basics like courteousness and politeness were followed by all waiters.

Price
At Rs. 250 (all inclusive) for the buffet lunch, it’s a steal. If you are a foodie, nothing can get you more value for your money. Especially, considering that no non veg item on the menu is less that Rs. 150 (except the soups) the buffet is a good option.

Individual items on the menu are expensive, especially the seafood. However, the good part is whatever maybe the item ordered, you can be assured of the quality and taste.

To Sum it up
If you live to eat and you like Chinese food, do not miss this restaurant. If you have not been there till now, plan your lunch tomorrow there. The place is quite popular, so be sure to make a reservation and then go.
